I have asked for help in how to write this damned thing once again. So if you don't like it then blame it on yourselves er I mean your own mother or Diana.
Well here we go to the Stake House 150 miles away from Laredo in Corpus Christi at a stake conference this was a long way to drive and we cold only afford to drive there about once a year. So we would only go on stake conference Sunday only once during the year unless we were fortunate enough to have someone richer invite us to go with them and we couldn’t seem to let them pay the whole way both ways. But anyway we would always save enough money so we could go by this one restaurant I had learned of while at a zone conference in the mission field. Laredo was about equi-distance from San Antonio, Corpus Christi and McAllen. San Antonio already had demaseado wards or too many wards and McAllen was only a branch so not large enough to handle a stake yet so we were in the Corpus Christi stake. Before we moved to El Paso though McAllen had been made into a stake in the same building.
One day, we decided I was not making enough money in purchasing curios for a small company whose owner was an uncle to the same foreman who fainted when I cut the end of my finger off a few years earlier. While working here I was given an old mail van to go into Mexico to buy the curios, this was probably the hardest I have ever had as the Spanish I knew was gospel Spanish and not daily Spanish used in speaking to sellers of curios. Back to the story, so I took a job as a cutter for a sandal making company but was still using the old mail truck to get back and fort to the plant. One day I was driving home for lunch when I had an insulin reaction and drove this van into the back of a parked dump truck. I must have been going pretty fast as it hit the rear wheels of the dump truck and knocked them loose. So I totaled two trucks or cars at once in this situation.
The funny part of this story is that Diana was going to meet me at home for lunch and saw the lights of the ambulance flashing and I wasn’t there at home yet so she went to see what was going on. Well she found me with a broken leg/knee, a broken arm, a seriously contused arm, a bleeding head and the ambulance attendants were trying to find a way to get me out or had just gotten me out ask Diana and she explained for the first of dozens of times tnhat I was diabetic. The first I remembered was when Diana told me that I looked like a cartoon character with one leg in a cast and hoisted up in the hospital bed, one in a cast and held up by a sling and the other arm totally wrapped in white and a bandage around my head. (I still say “that is why I am bald today”)
I am falling asleep so these stories will have to continue tomorrow.

Laredo has many memories
As we start today I want to warn you this is not a pretty story in the least and so one should close their eyes. I have always wondered how that was done. After we were married Diana and I were living in the apartment Diana had before we got hitched. I had never been a father before and I was trying to live as I had before, so I took out my contacts, these were hard contacts, and put them in the cases which I had to keep them in. I arose one day after Cathy did as she wasn’t even three as of yet and she was sleeping with us as Diana didn’t believe in cribs as that was where SIDs happened. Back to the story, Cathy had risen before I and had found my contacts and opened one side… and had dropped one side, the most important side, in the toilet. Well she came in to tell us and, as stated, I was not used to having my things, such important things, LOL, lost, destroyed or dropped in the toilet. So I yelled so loudly that it even woke up Diana and Cathy would never trust me again, for a long time any way. I went to the store and Cathy went with me shortly after that and I told her that I was going to put her in the dumpster, as a good father never would do. I apologize for this.
Anyway, on to the lighter side of life in Laredo, the river was a terrible place to go swimming so we went out to the local lake, which has a name but I cannot remember what it is, which had a playground cerca la laguna where we would go to play and swing Cathy on the swings and on the merry go round. To get out to the lake we would have to drive down Saunders street and then onto a smaller access road that would get on till we found the lake road. This Saunders street is what I was going to talk about. This road was always very crowded and hard to get around on even though it was a four lane road. Seems as if there was always someone with his/her car stuck half way into this Saunders and therefore it turned into a two lane road so Diana bought me a pickup and I insisted that we put a big log on the front of it with a big log that stuck out about three feet on either side so people would backup when they saw me coming, but Diana didn’t want me to get in trouble so I never did this. But every time I drove down Saunders I wanted to get that log.
I think I will go on to put this in the blog and quit for today.

02/26/2006 Fun
We had an empty nester couple over for Sunday lunch today for the first time in many years and really enjoyed ourselves today. I took some movie clips of Diana dancing around after they left. But could not figure out how to put them on the blog so if anyone can tell me how to do this I guess everyone can see. Otherwise each will have to wait till we come visit. By the way try looking at "Our House" in the links area! One more thing try reading the one about questions once more.
I have decided that everything I write, except when I am talking about memories, is just the ravings of a lunatic so do not pay any attention to my ravings. Please
I apologize for causing so many wonderings about what I have asked in previous posts. I guess if you understood it then don't worry about it.

Now we start married life
Diana and I talked about my confusion I was having writing the rest of my life story and I told her that all of this confusion was because I didn’t want to hurt anyone with what I had to say. She told me not to worry about it as I have hurt people before and it didn’t kill them plus it is my story so tell it the way I see it. Oh by the way I want you to know that I am more available than Diana to talk over the telephone as long as it isn't a long conversation! Now I feel that I can continue.
Once upon a time there was a couple who was married in May of 1973 just two months after my mission. His parents could not come because of the distance and her father would not come as he had been to one wedding of hers and that was enough. There were many people from the ward there such as Bishop Kearns and family, Colonel Baldwin and family, the Reynosa family who became the next bishop and who told Diana if I ever did anything wrong to come back and he would take care of her, the Duartes, the Ballards, a couple air force pilots and their wife’s (neither Diana nor I remember their names even though one couple left their Persian cats with us and never did tell us where to send them), the Castros whom Elder Larsgard and I lived with. Many of these people were shaking there heads at a missionary who had come back to marry within their ranks even though many of them had encouraged it throughout my stay in Laredo the second time. BTW I got tired of the cats who kept tearing up our furniture so we sold them to some strange person.
My sister (Sandra) came at the last minute and because Diana and I were in a hurry to get changed she was unable to give our present at the time they took it over to our house and sent their oldest boy to bring it up to us, chickens. After they had given us a present, funny thing but they felt they had to leave right away. What do you think were they being rude?
Well Diana and I got dressed and went across the river which I had never done since the beginning of my mission! Believe it or not. We went over and had some cabrito which I had to order as Diana was pretending that she did not understand his Spanish, I used to tell people that I was able to speak better Spanish than she but that has never been true. As we went into Mexico we found it a great deal of fun to have all the Mexicanos come by and talk to her aas if I didn’t understand and then I would start talking to her in Spanish. Those poor men were almost always totally embarrasado er embarrassed.
When we were first married we were as poor as church mice who were never left any pieces of bread so we did many things to try and stretch our dollar. The first I remember was when we had no money for the car inspection and she would put on this skimpy tee shirt, tie the ends together so the mechanics were to busy looking at her to pay any attention to what was wrong with the car. Can anyone even try to imagine her doing something like that? Another case where I should have paid more attention to my Patriarchal blessing. I should have been smart enough to explain to her that what she was doing was not appropriate as Diana had only been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years or so I believe and she has learned so much since then it amazes me that I cannot keep up.
I think I have started with the balance of my life and it will be quite a bit longer than that which I have told as of yet as now Diana has a part in it.

Keary Nield's Life: Help needed...
OK! If no one is offering to help, and I don't mean any criticism, this is my decision concerning the rest of my life history: I guess that I will make this entire blog my life history (copied from the internet and pasted in Microsoft Word) - including some or all comments and minus MOST of the Links I have put out there and I would suggest that if I make any mistakes that you are not happy about during the rest of this life history that you leave a Link, as I have been doing, to correct me and I will fix it then delete that Link!
OK? Comments, if agreed or not agreed, please.

Apologies to my SWEETHEART!
I must apologize for my loose tongued approach to my talk of yesterday. With a blog one must always be cautious of what one might say to cause an employer to react if a blog search is done. I am going to return to yesterdays blog and remove that which I think may be damaging.
I think that one should be very concious of the fact that blog searches have become rather common place in the employment process and that with a blog your business is not just your business, but that of every person in the world who might read it. I would not have chosen to write my life history on a blog except that is the only way that I would have had the courage to complete it while on this earth.
Now it will take me quite more time to decide on how to present the balance of my tale as at present I have no idea how to proceed with this story of my life. You see now there are many others to dispute what I have to say and I realize that the facts are what I remember and not what someone else remembers. You see I want to make the remembrances as close as possible to the truth. So it may take a few days to get my memories correct.
Love Dad

Keary Nield's Life: Now we will discuss THE WEDDING…
This is a strange way of commenting. Tell you what, you leave comments and I will reply if so desired by meself or if asked a question by you in comment. Read this blog once again as I have made changes. Actually Sandra and Reid were there to our surprise. My parents had paid for me to go back to Texas and could not afford to go themselves. It is because I have always done everything so outlandishly that my Parents could not be there. Cathy I do not want any questions especially those which anyone might have to ask while writing a comment. Why did I write "except"?

Now we will discuss THE WEDDING…
As was mentioned before, I found Diana to be stuck up and trying too hard or something that I wanted nothing to do with. Well, I changed my mind sometime during the nine months I was in Laredo this time. I believe that Diana was surely unimpressed with me also, but I was informed this past weekend that she was instructed by her bishop to keep me in mind as a future husband. If anyone knows Diana, they know that she will do what she is instructed to do by those in authority over her if possible.
During the time I was assigned in Laredo I was a district leader and I could not drive so my companions had to do all the driving, but also I received four or five companions during this period. Seems as if I was difficult to get along with doesn’t it? Well this is untrue as I was known as one of the easiest going Elders in the mission. Anyway my companions were also invited to all the meals and home evenings Diana and I were invited to. I guess I got so many companions as the Lord wanted Diana and I to get to know one another or something like that. Well, when I got home the first thing I did was to call and ask Diana if she would marry me. I had to do this in case someone else was to have the same idea. And I found later there was at least one other to do that.
When I got home my parents gave me the last car they had purchased to deliver newspapers with to help me on the mission as a welcome home present. After Diana had accepted I took the car, my parents had given me, and as I had title to it used it as collateral for a loan large enough to purchase a wedding ring with her birth stone on either side of the ring along with the diamond in the center, it originally had diamonds in all three locations. When I got back to Laredo I wanted to give her a paper ring as a joke but did not have the courage so I gave her the ring and took her straight to the chapel (just kidding) so she could not do the same as had happened to me before. I found that she would never have even thought of doing that sort of thing. When I married Diana, I married a real jewel one that is worth more than all the diamonds and rubies in this world.
When we finally did get married I found myself waiting on the edge of the church steps waiting and hoping that she had not changed her mind only to find out that she wanted her hair different than it currently was for over half an hour. This is something I see her doing quite often. It is either her hair or the outfit she is wearing. And when it is what she is wearing she has to change her clothes and then put her make-up on once again for some strange reason. Diana cannot makeup her mind for several hours each time and she continually comes and asks me how she looks, to which I always say “You look wonderful honey” and I mean it. Seldom do I have to say that she should change something or other. But she is never quite satisfied.
When Diana and I were married Cathy was just over two years old but thought she was thirty-two and Diana treated her as if she were. This made me so jealous that I treated Cathy as an enemy instead of one smart little girl, which she was. Actually this wasn’t the reason. The reason I was so jealous was that I felt Diana felt more affection toward Cathy than she did toward me. I could tell tons of stories about Cathy and none of them would put me in a very good light all because of my jealousy. I have since found that Cathy had nothing to do with the way Diana is but I have been very slow and dim witted in learning this.

Let’s try again!
We went Sat morning to visit with my parents. As we got there we found everyone except dad going to Moses Lake to share a birthday party with Kathy’s son Even er Evanwho is now four three years old. It was fun and we took our new camera with us to show all the people we met.
Anyway I will show a couple more.at least we decided that the camera we had spent so much money for was a piece of s_it compared to my Uncle Dean & Renae Jaques Kodak Sure-shot, Abby & Connie’s Olympus whatever and Jason and Alana’s Kodak. So when we got home yesterday we took our camera back and got a new one, a Canon PowerShot A 520, and I will let you see examples of each camera you will see a big difference and I am a very poor photographer at least as good or bad as Diana. All the scenery on the road was taken by me as I cannot drive. Most of the shots of people were taken by Diana and some by myself.
Abby (Diana)
And Connie n Abby
Diana w/new camera

Help needed...
As I have already stated I am not good at writing a proper story with the appropriate commas and other punctuation. The help I am looking for would be someone to copy the blog and paste it into a word processor then go through each story and put in the proper wording and the proper punctuation so that this whole Life story might be compiled, bound and given to my progeny.
And NO I do NOT want to sell my life story or make it into a movie as has been suggested a few times. The reason I do not want to do this is that although you think it might be funny or whatever, when a person purchases anything it then becomes that persons property and he/she ca do whatever he/she wishes and I know a few things are stretching the truth it is my story and I want it as my story and not as someone elses ideas of what might make it better.
Also I know that I love my mother with the greatest love a person can have for their mother, and although I have portrayed her as someone who didn’t care I know that she has lived her life and maybe she has made some mistakes in my eyes, but every person has the right to live their life as they see fit. It might not be appropriate for some, but it is their life and they have the right to choose and no one should criticize except our Lord. I know that I have made my mistakes and no one has the right to decide whether I have repented except our Heavenly Father. And I do not want people I general either to read nor to see my incomplete life. Enough.
One more mission story from San Antonio were I was again a district leader and was getting new companions from the LTM every week or month or in between but never more than a month. My companion went to visit an old sister (hermana) and when we got there we could not get in to see her as there was a goat (chivo) that would not let is into the fence around her house no matter what we would do.
We finally just ran and jumped over her porch railing where we found her as happy as can be and wanting to feed us as we were too thin. When we left she called the goat into his pen so that we could leave in peace. When we were visiting the branch president we had thought the experience quite funny so I told him as best as I could in Spanish as he didn’t understand very much.
When I got to the part about the goat chasing us out of the fence I stumbled quite a bit as I had never talked about goats before, the gospel does not talk about goats so I did not know what one was called, but I did know that a baby goat was called a cabrito in the restaurants so quickly I changed the “ito” to “on” as is usually done when converting a small something into a large something. Anyway I said that there was a cabron (SOB) in this hermanas yard that wouldn’t lrt us pass. Well the branch president asked me who it was and I told him that it was an animal when he started to laugh and laugh then told me that the large cabrito was called a chivo and that the cabron was a not so nice man.
Well how was I to know but the branch president thought it so funny that he had to tell his counselors and thy told their wives and their wives told their friends and when we got to church that Sunday we were faced with the biggest harangue that one could get and then my companion told the mission president who told the assistants to the president and the word spread from there around the mission. I was from then on known as the SOB by the mission president on down to every new missionary that came into the mission. And it is wondered why I don’t go to the reunions.
Today my mission will be discussed.
In the beginning of my mission I had no idea what was supposed to be so great about a mission and I was just going through the motions and doing and sayings that I saw others doing. One of the many things I had learned at the LTM was the desire to learn more about the Spanish language, but even more about this fellow Jesus Christ who was our savior according to my parents and to my surprise according to everyone else around me now. So I would read both to learn the Spanish language and about my Savior. So I read the Book of Mormon both in English and in Spanish, which I found to be an easier language to understand in the end, to better understand this wonderful book that had the gospel of Jesus Christ spelled out so clearly in it. I read the Bible in both languages and I read the book "Jesus the Christ" in Spanish all of this to help learn both the Spanish language and the Gospel of Jesus Christ which I was now teaching and how could one teach without a knowledge of what one was teaching? I remember a lot about a lot of my companions but especially about my first two companions, Elder George Larsgard who was the best Elder I have ever known except the Apostles and, Elder Kenneth Turpin who was the most selfish and stubborn person I have ever known. The first week I was a missionary I was in a threesome with Elder Larsgard and Elder Brinkerhoff who was from Stevensville Montana, he didn’t remember me but I did remember him as he was one of the brothersf the little girl, who I had hit in the head with a rock. Well the first day we went out to tract the neighborhood I was all excited and couldn’t wait to get started. We went out as a threesome and the first few doors we went to either Elder Larsgard or Elder Brinkerhoff would talk which I was fine with, then we came up to a door and Elder Larsgard said “OK Elder Nield it is now your turn” to which I said M·my turn? I d·don’t know how to which he said you just go up there and speak in English if the person at the door speaks English then you cn speak in English and if the person at the door speaks Spanish then you speak in Spanish. Well I went to the door and knocked, waited and just as I was about to turn around, a young lady came to the door and said “Buenos Dias” so I turned back and in very good Spanish said “Hello, we are Elders with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, have you ever heard of this church?” and she said “mande mé” or what so I repeated myself and she said the same thing when Elder Larsgard said to me speak up Elder Nield. The whole point of this story is that I was so afraid that nothing was coming out of my mouth even though it was moving and I could hear myself just fine, a problem I often found myself in during the mission. Well, that being a mouthful, I remember that not being able to drive my companions and I spent a lot of time walking and riding bikes through neighborhoods that one could get very hurt or dead were in not for the Spirit of the Lord being with us. I remember walking through a neighborhood in San Antonio when someone picked up a rock and threw it at us and then hearing is friends telling him that if he could not throw better than that… well I knew the Spirit of the Lord was with us and I knew that the gangster would have hit us with the rock if he could have, I also remember riding bikes along one day in Laredo when this german Shepard came out chasing my companion and I felt a prompting to get behind that dog and try to save my companion who was deathly afraid of dogs and was wobbling all over, so I came up behind the dog and bumped it with my front wheel and it fell over dead and I ended up crashing over the dog while my companion, don’t remember his name, gave me a hard time about not being able to get along with dogs. The grandest thing about any mission though is being to teach people the Gospel of Jesus Christ and watch them start to understand then go all the way to being baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then having the authority of giving this same person, same people, the gift of the Holy Ghost. When I went on the mission I didn’t know what I had caused to happen to myself; however, when I got home from my mission I could count the many blessings I had received from going on a mission for the Lord but today I can’t count that high. I remember that I had met my wife during these two years/ when I first met her I remember being told that she was the one all the Elders wanted to come back to marry and I said “She is just stuck and conceited, I wouldn’t waste my time” to which I later regretted saying more than once. Tomorrow we will go on to my marriage if you dare.

There comes a time to tell the truth…
And you thought I was telling the truth all along. Well, I have to tell you that, so far I have been telling the truth in almost every situation. Now it is up to you to figure out where. JK. Thought I would pull your legs. I hope that doesn’t embarrass you, if so I apologize.
Well I will start by telling the truth. After all the problems with my cars, the state put a, I can’t remember what it is called but I could not drive anymore. Wunc upon a time, Kiki, there was this beautiful little girl who was not so little and definitely not beautiful who went to the Moses Lake Institute and when I started going to the institute, I started on a suggestion of my bishop to associate with other people of my own age, I found her to be the most fun person there and we just kind of hit it off and I was shocked when I was told she was waiting on a missionary to get home. Oh well, we still had a lot of fun and she continued to write me even after Diana and I were married, to Diana’s complete understanding. LOL
Anyway in associating with these people who were return missionaries and girls waiting for a missionary, but no one for me that I wanted. Oh there were the girls who were no fun to talk to and the ones who couldn’t stop talking long enough to catch a breath and the ones who were so smart they intimidated me. All in all there were a lot of females in our institute class that would not even want anything to do with someone like me who had not been close to the Book of Mormon for a long time.
Understanding this, I decided to go on a mission even if I couldn’t drive anywhere. I submitted my papers and waited as I was not good at doing but had to do it just like everyone else. When the papers finally came, I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to go to the most awful place I could think of. How could anyone want to live in a dry, brown sandy place where most people didn’t even speak English. I had decided that I was going to hate it in the worst way. To start out with I was going to learn a new language as if I wasn’t already facing an F in my Russian studies. All of these things were going through my mind while preparing for a misson by buying suits and white shirts and good walking shoes, most definitely needed, and toiletries, which I wouldn’t need. And finally I went to be set apart as an Elder and as a missionary by President Baker, one of the greatest men I had yet met he told me that my father was a truly great man which I already knew, but didn’t think this Stake President would. Anyway he then told me the worst thing I had as yet heard about these missions, I could not have any associations with the opposite sex during the mission, and I was just starting to enjoy girls. How would I get out of this mission thing?
I found there to be no honorable way out and so I went to the Mission Home in Salt Lake City. In Salt Lake City I met and talked to an apostle of the Lord, Elder Spencer W. Kimball who later spoke to te group of Elders and told us that he was of the opinion that if someone wanted something from his car he didn’t want them to have to commit two crimes, breaking and entering as well as stealing, if they thought they wanted something of his, so he never locked his doors. He told many other things, but this has always stuck with me and I have never wanted to lock my doors either, probably laziness on my part. We were assigned companions, my companion was Elder Ricks who later baptized my wife, and spent two days among these wonderful and Holy people, the Apostles. Then those who did not get to learn a new language went out to start doing their missionary duties while the rest of us were sent to BYU in Provo to learn our languages. Most went to Provo on a bus, but I was called and asked to ride with Elder Gordon B. Hinkley and we talked about some important things I needed to keep in mind if I were to serve the Lord in an appropriate manner. He was the most energetic man I think I have ever known.
To start the Language Training Mission or LTM I was selected as a District Leader which meant that I had to take charge, fill out reports and try to think of great ideas that would help us to learn the Spanish language faster and easier, this was only my supposed to role as our teachers were much better at that than I could ever hope to be, but as always in a leadership position I had reports to be filled and certain responsibilities in dealing with members of the district. Well Elder Ricks and I were companions through the LTM and into our Mission Home in San Antonio Texas, there we were separated never to see one another again except for times in Zone meetings and sometimes in Stake conferences, we seldom talked.
This has gone on to long for today and I just want to say HAPPY BELATED CHRISTMAS, NEW YEARS, VALENTINES DAY and anything in between!

I Want to scream at all the memories.
When I was out of the hospital after being unconscious for three days and two more for recovery, I found that I had a permanent scar over my left ear that I have always kept covered with my thinning hair. Satisfied Alex? Oh, by the way every piece of glass in the car was shattered except the window my head rode on while sliding along the side of the road. Was rhis my guardian angel once again? Anyway after getting out of the hospital I found that I no longer had a car, which my father co-signed for, but I also no longer had a job as I had to be replaced.
So I started helping my parents make extra money as a newspaper deliverer out in the countryside with their secondhand car a Chevrolet Corvair and you thought I had said Corvette, well not the same by a long shot>. It was kind of like a Volkswagen bug ex cept it looked like someone had stepped on it and made it flat. It had the engine in the rear and trunk in front only the engine was water cooled.
While I was working at the beet dump I used to take this little car and drive it over the tare piles. After the farmer dumped their beets they would gto over a bouncing chain to knock the dirt off and then the driver would have to put the tare into the back of his truck have it weighed and the difference between the beginning weight and the tare weight was what he was paid by the sugar beet plant. And after he was weighed he would take the tare off to the side and dump it on the ground to the side of the weigh station area.
So there were hundreds of tare mounds and we, a friend and I, would buckle our seat belts in this Corvair and drive about forty mph in order to get the car to go up onto the tare piles about three feet high each and drive over as many as possible. It would shake us up better than going to the Carnivel.
This Corvair was perfect size to drive it straight out on some railroad tracks , let out about ¾ of the air and let it steer us to the ball games in Royal City Washington. I do not remember how I totaled this car but I do remember that after I had totaled it my parents went to Connell and bought another Corvair from a junk car dealer and dad Anthony and I fixed it up to run as it was such a dependable car to deliver papers with.
We are about 2 ½ years before the mission I served for the Lord. And then I got married and my children started coming with a vengeance.

An Email I got!
This was forwarded to me so I almost deleted it. Then I noticed it was from Roger so I opened it and thought I would share.
15 Things You Probably Never Knew or Thought About
1. At least 5 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. If not for you, someone may not be living.
8. You are special and unique.
9. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.
13. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know.
15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.
A Minute: They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
Take the time .. to live and love.

Oh, this story?
After flunking out of college as I stated before I didn’t have my heart set on college so I dropped out and started working at the sugar beet dumps. Where one could do many different things, the warmest was to weigh trucks in where there was a space heater. Trouble of it was that this old biddy would let me do it while she went pee-pee but would rush me out as soon as she got back, so I would go to the top of the sugar beet pile, which was about thirty to forty feet tall about the same in width and as long as we could make it, to smooth out the pile and make sure that it was an even pile. Sometimes I would get to empty trucks, the second easiest job out there, but the old woman’s husband would come back from the can and send me back up to the top.
One day I came down to watch the mechanic fix the machine and heard the old man tell the mechanic he should turn off the power. Then the mechanic said”what for, I know…”, I guess he was going to say I know what I am doing but was fried instead. I never wanted to come down off the top after that. It was a horrific smell
In the evenings after the last truck had come from the farmers fields we would have to spread great big blue tarps over the beets so they didn’t freeze. Then in the morning we would roll back the tarp so that we could continue making the pile longer and longer and longer and I could go on forever.
I was fortunately a neighbor of and in the same ward as the foreman, so when the fields had all been emptied I got to continue working while the rest of the crew was through for the year, I got to stay working helping the men from the sugar beet plant load the beets onto railroad cars. It was funny that I got to roll the tarp back all by myself while the man from the plant would sit in his front end loader and drink coffee and smoke waiting until he could start loading the beets onto these huge railroad cars. I remember one day Bill, the foreman, was helping me roll the tarp back so that we could get started earlier. I must have been late that day and Bill told me that he was quite upset with the union because they made it so the guy didn’t have to get out of his front end loader. I knew then that I wanted nothing to do with unions in the future.
Anyway, Bill tried to help me get ready to go on a mission but I had bought a shiny new car and didn’t want to give it up at this time. So I started hanging out with strange people who dragged me down to their level and I decided I would not go back to church at all in the future. Isn’t it strange all the ways satan has of tempting us not to follow after the Savior?
It wasn’t long after that when I had several bottles of beer in my trunk, had an insulin reaction while driving out to a party spot at Mar don Resort at the lakes when I drove off the road in my shiny new car while going in excess of 120 MPH. I went off the road ran for over 10 yards on the driver side, hit something to cause the car to flip end over end twice, the first time over a fence, and rolled completely three times and ended up on four flat tires with the roof on the passenger side crushed down to the top of the seats. Roy Hutchinson crawled from the floor on that side over me to get out of the car with a broken right arm and went to call for an ambulance for me then was on hand to stop the police from bouncing the trunk lid open while I was in the car.
I was unconscious for three days and on wakin had to answer questions in front of my parents for the police, and then for the press. As this was the most exciting to happen in Othello for weeks. Well I have been talking long enough for today.

And The Story goes on!:
After Cathy, Alex and Ciria I guess I will try.
Childhood Ambition: To become a cowboy. The Marlboro man preferably.
Fondest Memory: When I was married.
Retreat: Whenever I go to one of my children’s homes to play with my grandchildren.
Wildest Dream` To have my eyesight back.
Proudest Moment: When each of my children were born
Biggest Challenge: To control my diabetes so that I might not have any more problems.
Alarm Clock: Earlier in life, I didn’t need one. Now days, I don’t use one
Perfect Day: Earlier in life, when I figured out how to solve a problem – now days just being able to figure out which shoe goes on which foot, er I mean which leg goes on which side.
First Job: Well, I have had many first jobs. When I was a child there was the cows I had to milk for dad. When I was a youth there was turning sacks. When I started my career there was the city of Pasco. And finally there was contracting with General Eclectic. Oh there is a last first job of kissing the couch every day.
Indulgement: I do not know what indulgement is unless it should be indulgence. I have only one indulgement. Spending the day with my sweetheart is my indulgence.
Last Purchase: Not difficult. I only buy Wal-Mart water.
Favorite Movie: Any John Wayne movie. And I don’t know why but "Bullet" with Steve McQueen has always got my blood boiling.
Inspiration: no idea.
My Life: Is a mess.

Now we go on to the rest of my life.
I believe I had just bought a new used car that I remember getting very cheaply. After I got it running I was over at a so called friend whose name was Curt and I don't remember the last who told me he wanted to race me for titles and I didn’t know what he meant, so he told me that he would put up the title of his car and I would have to put up the title to my car before we would race the cars would race to figure out who would keep title to both cars. And you think I would do that, no you are wrong. I had spent all the money I cold spare so I declined and never talked to him again except in passing.
I moved with my very few belongings in my new ’57 Chevy to a very old and cross lady by the name of Sister White in Rexburg, Idaho in order to go to school. Seems all I did was play mostly with some girls who seemed nicer than any girls I had known to date. As always I got D’s, a couple C’s with more F’s as any thing this time. So I flunked out of college, but I found a girl named Mary Lou that I proposed to. In order to propose I ended up selling the ’57 to buy a wedding ring. This hurt but not enough to stop me. Well I proposed just before the Thanksgiving holiday and she didn’t accept but told me she wanted to think about it over the holiday, then she asked me if she could take the whole ring set home to Montana with her to show her parents, so I let her. I bummed a ride home and when mom asked why I didn’t bring my car I told her that it wasn’t doing well enough for a trip of 800 miles.
After the holiday I went back to school and looked for Mary Lou but she had not gotten back to school yet so I had to wait until the twelfth of never as she had taken my ring home with her and had gone off to marry a local who I found when I finally called her parents to find out what had happened to Mary Lou and I have not said what her last name was and I have withheld it because of it being such an odd coincident that I was going to get married with a girl named Keller. And alex will understand the coincidence as he wanted to figure out if Amanda Keller in Harrah was the one for him before and during a mission. Sorry if this gets you in trouble Alex but she should understand that it was before you met your wife.
After my mission and had asked my sweetheart to marry me this same Mary Lou called my mother and cried on her shoulder about having to get a divorce and wanted to know if I still wanted to marry her. Can you believe the audacity of the crazy woman? I would have to first forgive her for what she had done to me and I had already met the one to share eternity with. But my mother decided I should marry this divorced woman rather than marry a "Mexican divorcee". How prejudiced!

The sun don’t shine on me!
And I know that it should be doesn’t instead of don’t so I don’t want to hear about it. My teachers used to tell me that if they could understand me they would be able to give me a better grade. My response has always been that the words are there so you should be able to understand me. Sometimes I try to do what they suggested, but I never understood them very well and I wasn’t going to ask for help cause that would be telling everyone that I was a dummy and I didn’t want to have everyone give me an even harder time as I walked through school.
There should be a law that I should be able to do as I please. When my father worked for the state representative I would imagine myself telling about these things but I was always to scared to death of him as he smoked this foul cigar and good people shouldn’t cause other people to faint in being good. So I just imagined it and never did anything about my thoughts. I wonder if my timid ness could cause me to be less of a person? No I would not be less for anything. And I didn’t want to tell anyone cause it would show them how dumb I was.
Well I guess I should have written it but again I was afraid. And didn’t think I would be accepted. Of course I wasn’t accepted anyway and really didn’t understand so I let it go, and in the end chose to talk to machines rather than to people.
Well I have never told this to anyone, not even my precious wife, before so you can laugh if you want but I now know what I should have done from the very beginning and maybe I could have had more friends like dad always did. A bit off the norm today, but I always have been scared to say these things so I would put on this macho look as if that were who I really was. I am going to let this alone now and I hope you will still keep reading in the future.
After Kristy commented I pulled this off the blog off the webb for a period of time and wondered for a period then was convinced by Diana to put it back where it was and I decided to put it back at the top.
During this whole process I had an insulin reaction and Diana had to rescue me. During which time I am sure she gave me enough food that my blood sugar will be extremely high when I test it in the morning. So I quess the sun Does shine me but not Diana. Which makes her very angry.

Another story from Victor
I thought I had told all the stories from Victor that I could remember , but seeing the picture of Mom holding Connie reminded me of my fondest memory. When I was at least as young as Connie appears in the picture of our family I was always going to Mom to sit in her lap and be rocked and cuddled by her. We would sit there in the winter by the potbellied stove to keep warm. And I was always so comforted by her holding me that I thought this was just about like heaven, which I didn’t remember - of course, but that was what I imagined for the present being so young.
Then Connie was born, I was no longer looked on as number one. Then Anthony was born and I think I was never looked at the same way again. It was probably the fact of me being so jealous. I hated all my brothers and sisters from then on as they had taken my mother away from me. And my mother was nothing like Diana taking time for each and everyone of her children, my mother started delegating thins to do to each of old enough to help (about two). My jealousy is showing again.

Here is a bunch of sissys
Isn't the Internet amazing? I would never have known that I culd get these pictures labeled and everything without even leaving my house or even asking for them, as I didn't know they even existed. They were emailed to me.Left to right:
Sandra, my aunt Karen (mom's youngest sister), my cousin Marcia Barnes ( no one should get any designs on her as she is a married and crabby old lady these days ), and Keary Lyn Nield (same goes for me). BTW: Guess what Marcia's middle name is - if you guessed Lyn you were right on.
The early Nield Family

Top to bottom Left to right:
Mom, Dad, Connie, Sandra and Keary.
This picture is at the left side of our house. You are looking at the Grohfs' barn in Victor, Montana. Just to our right about 1/2 mile is grandma and grandpa Nield’s house.
I remember climbing up in the old Oak tree there as we had a fort built up there and a swing rope from one of the branches about half way up, which was about ten feet above where the fort was and we had to climb at least six to eight feet to get to the fort. No one or I would like to say that no one ever worried much about as long as no one was crying, but they were always out side calling for us, so we would be real quiet until mom or grandma or both went back in to finish what ever they were doing. Then they would come out and find us and if we were not doing good things I would have to go find a switch. And as you can see, there are a lot of switches around I just had to choose a large enough one. This is from a five year olds eyes.
And we are off in a ?new car?
One more story of working in the potato plant during the summers of my teen years. This did not happen to me but it did happen to my parents so I claim part as I was at the plant so I can tell the story to the best of my ability.
Once upon a time, I mean one day my mother left her position to go up to the restroom. As she entered the restroo and went into a stall she saw a n ewborn in the toilet. She hurriedly picked the little girl up and cradled it against her body until someone else went into the restroom. Then she sent the other lady to fetch my father. When he got there he took out his pocket knife and cut the cord so they could wrap the baby up in some potato sacks. The beginning is for Kiki, but my parents have the newspaper report. Apparently this girl who worked there at the plant was extremely big in the first place, but she was very quiet and no one knew her except for her parents and they didn’t see that she was expecting. Well this girl was only fourteen and obviously this was her first and she was just scared to death as her father was the father to the baby.
The father disappeared and the mother was angry with the girl for making him flee. So the state came in and took the baby girl and the mother of the baby was put in jail for doing something so stupid. In the end Newell Anderson paid for an attorney for the mother of the baby so that she was able to get out of jail and go back to school. I feel so sorry for her and yet I have no idea what ever happened to her after the trial and she was released with no possibility of contacting the baby in the future.
Now we are off to the experience of changing cars after my purple one was cremated. I needed to have a car for my self esteem and so that I could get away from all of my brothers and sisters once in awhile. Anyway I had to save money for college as I knew that I wasn’t going to get a scholarship as none of my grades had been very reasonable most had been C’s or D’s with at least one F. I planned on going to Ricks college and I knew that I would need a car to go from Rexburg to Lincoln where my grandparents or my mothers parents lived. As I looked around for a good used car which I never did find. I did find an old light blue and white ’57 Chevy BelAir that didn’t have an engine. So I bought it for "?" I do not remember the purchase price but it wasn’t very much.
When I went looking for an engine my father suggested I take the engine from the ’55 and put it in the ’57. To which I reminded him that I had released that car to the crook. Dad told me that he could get the engine at a very reasonable price to which I agreed and we went to talk to the “crook” and I found him to be very nice to deal with when dad introduced us, many people knew dad to be a very good and fair man. The “crook” told me that if he’d known I was my father’s son that he wouldn't have charged me the $5.00. Then he gave me a very reasonable price, just the cost of the parts he had bought, for the old straight 6 cylinder engine, which he had taken and replaced everything that had been burnt and replaced the carburetor and distributor and most important it ran very well. Now how much would I pay him to put it in the ’57 Chevy? As he was a friend to dad, dad had helped him do something which they told me but I now forget; he would do it for free.
I have always wished I could be like my father instead of just like my mother in behavior with others. I am just like him in my thoughts on comedy.
We’ll see you tomorrow…

Happenings in my purple ‘55 Chevy
I had a lot of fun running around in my little old Chevy and you will hear all about it except the things I shouldn’t have done, and I am sure that you don’t want to hear about those anyway.
One day I went to Moses Lake to see a friend (Jim Brasheers) there as I got there I saw him unpacking as if he had been hunting, except one thing. He picked up this old suitcase as if it were very heavy but he put it aside very gently as if it had something very expensive or exciting in it. As I got out of the car he excitedly called me over to him and asked me if I knew what he had and I said no as I was leaning over it to open it and look inside.
Jim grabbed me and threw me away from the suitcase so I asked him what was so important that he would treat me like that, to which he answered that he had a live Bobcat that he wanted to do something special with. I wondered what specialty he had in mind. We put the Bobcat carefully in the trunk of my chevy and closed it. Then he explained. After driving about 1/4th the way back to Othello and I let Jim and the suitcase off to put it alongside the road so we could hide and watch, then I went to the next turn, turned and pulled the car off to the side. Quickly I ran to where Jim was then we moved to a hiding spot where we watched cars pass for about ½ hour when a car stopped and took the suitcase in and while driving off we saw car doors fly open and about 5 people came soaring out of that old beat-up car. The Bobcat came sauntering out and looked around, then ran off into a field.
I have never told this story to anyone as I have been too embarrassed, now you are the first to read it. My friends and I knew of a pond that was out of the way over by Warden. So a bunch of us would pile in the car and go skinny dipping there. And we didn’t think anyone else knew about it, so one night after we were all undressed and in the pond when some girls from Warden came by saw us and decided to play a joke. They did not like us fouling their pond so they gathered up all the clothes and put them in my car and because I had left the keys plainly in sight where one could start the car they drove off with the car and all of our clothes. What were we going to do? We didn’t know what to do, except they didn’t get all our clothes, one of us, I think it was Paul Danielson had put his clothes in a secret place in a dense tree, we as well wondered how it was done but never asked, got out and put his clothes on and went to call for help. Well he never found a phone before these girls found him walking from the pond and gang tackled him and tied him to the steering wheel of my car, dropped the keys outside the door and went on their way. We could not get out of the pond or we would freeze as it was later in the summer, about the end of September, so we stayed and turned into prunes. Now we had to wait for the Warden police actually the county police to come get us out, which didn’t happen until about 8:30 the next day, when the girls felt sorry enough for us to call the police and told them about this weird group of boys out swimming in the public swimming pond. The only time any of us had seen the pod was at night when no one else was around so being from Othello and too young to think clearly we thought it was no more than for us alone and we had done it several times. Well the police were laughing so hard and we had broken no law so they let us go after taking our names, addresses and being warned never to do that again.
Because of the times when bright and flashy newer cars or even older cars painted appropriately were in fashion in those days and because I was not very popular, my car was made fun of quite often, but it was mine, I had title to it, and that was most important. I had paid $500.00 for it where a more traditional ’55 Chevy with an 8 cylinder engine instead of a strait six cylinder would be worth more like $750.00 - $1,000.00 where today the same car might be worth $30,000.00. well I was out cruising in it one night and pulled up to a stop sign coming up to main street. On the right side was an Exxon gas station which has since gone out of business that had two men in it that were doing nothing but sitting. Well the car stalled on me and I pumped the gas several times and tried to start it again and it didn’t so I frustrated pumped many more times and then when I tried to start it once again the front hood of the car blew off into main street and my engine was completely on fire. I had to jump out of the car and stand and watch it burn. Finally I went into the gas station to ask for a fire extinguisher and the men were still sitting, but now they wer both looking at the fire, when I asked for a fire extinguisher one stood up to get one and the other just said “what for it will be through before you can get back there. Just let it burn then claim it on your insurance”. I only had liability though, so I stood and watched all my hard earned money burn while the fire caught the gas tank and blew the trunk lid off just as far to the rearif not farther front hood. We waited for the fire department to come and put the fire out then come in looking for the owner, well the two men looked at me so what could I do except say that I was the owner. The rest of that night I filled forms and talked to around ten million people and finally I saw the one that broke my heart. The man who came to tow my car wanted to charge more than I had or I could give him title to the car and there would be no charge except a $5.00 fee to come out there. Boy, he had me pegged from the very start.
On we go to my next car, not nearly so nice, tomorrow…

Spring happenings in 1967
I remember when we as a family, except mom and dad, would turn used potato sacks inside out so they could be used by the farmers to haul seed potatoes to his farm to plant. This was the dirtiest job I can remember as we had this big fan that sucked the bag from the bottom up through this tube and when it was thus pulled inside out we would pull it out and lay the sack on a pallet where it could be easily picked up by the women who were filling sacks with cut seed potatoes ready to be planted. Oh don't et a sack go or it would be torn to pieces by the fan.
Now the reason this was such a dirty job is that while this fan or vacuum would pull the sack inside out it would also pull all the dirt and ugly things from and toss them very high in the air for it to settle where, you guessed it all over our hair, our clothes, in our eyes, our mouth. In other words we would spend half an hour turning sacks or bags and then we would spend three hours tring to clean up by taking our outer clothes off in the back, running in to take a shower, get dressed, clean the tub as it would have a film all over, brush our teeth and mouth, get dressed, come out to vacuum the floor and where we had run and then washing our clothes. Are you tired yet? Of course, we wold turn sacks for more than ¼th hour, but before we would be about working 3 hours we would have turned enough for three days production of seed potatoes. While we could barely keep up if doing it by hand.
This was much faster than doing the turning by hand. Why did they need to be turned inside out. Well, it seems that certain companies would not allow there sacks to be used for other than the original product, and could not be read appropriately while inside out. This is how the whole potato season started.
While, we were turning sacks and cutting seed potatoes, my father and crew were preparing the plant inside ready for the grown potatoes. This took much longer than doing what I had previously talked about earlier. Anyway, I had just purchased a purple ’55 Chevy and with black tuck and roll upholstery and dad always hired some mentally handicapped help. Well this was the year when he had a guy by the name of Earl and he was helping the painter, Newell Anderson loved a hideous tint of green and everything had to be painted that color. Earl was carrying a pail of this color paint when he passed my brother Anthony and just thought it would be fun to pour the paint over Anthony’s head. After doing this he went off to get another pail of paint. Well Anthony came to me and asked for a ride home to get cleaned up, to which I said no!!!! I didn’t want to get my car all colored with green paint, can you imagine a purple car with black and pale green interior? So a friend gave Anthony a ride home on his scooter, with the wind dring and hardening the paint with every second to where mom and friends had to cut all Anthony’s hair off and then slowly remove the paint with some sort of harsh chemical. Boy, was I in trouble when I got home, youd have thought I had shot the poor kid. My only line of defense was that I didn’t want any Anderson green in my car to which I was told that mom was going to paint the whole car in that color. It never happened though.

We went for a trip in our car?
One day we decided on going for a car ride in our old Ford station-wagon so we got in the car and argued on where we were going to go. And there was of a sudden a decision that everyone liked. We would go for a ride down the Oregon coast and into northern California then come back home through the central part of Oregon.
When we got to Portland Oregon we had an argument about how we would get to the coast. One idea was to go to the northern coast of Oregon or Astoria and then travel all the way down the coast and the other was to go to Tillamook Oregon which would save us at least 2 hours more on the trip. We all argued so much that we finally took a vote and the outcome was 5 to 5 and we all started arguing once again. It wasn’t long before my father said that his vote coiunted as two and mom, trying to stop the fighting, agreed with him. We went to Tillamook Oregon from Portland.
As we were driving from Portland we had some mountains that were hills compared to the Rockies or the Cascade Mountan Range but they were enough to make the old Ford we had brought a very hard time even though we had come over the Rockies from Montana, it barely got over these hills and died between Tillamook and Spring Lake, so we kneeled and prayed to our Heavenly Father, dad prayed using the priesthood he possesses and said “with the Holy Melchezidek Priesthood which I hold I say that we will be helped”. It wasn’t five minutes before a car drove up and this strangely weird man gave us a tow to Spring Lake Oregon where my parents could do something about our situation. When we got there my father called his old boss the cattle rancher, banker and state representative even though it was Saturday he came back with the authority to buy a new used car. The parents then left Sandra with us and the car while they looked for a used car in this small town. While they were gone Sandra was convinced that she should be in charge of the three other girls Connie, Torrie and the baby Kimberly. And I would be in charge of the three other boys Anthony, Roger and Allen. Well Roger says that I was the only one to knock him out but even Sandra appreciated the quiet after I had knocked him out. Roger was asking questions, all the way till he got married and probably still asks his wife. Anyway, when my parents got back with the new car we were all disappointed. They had brought back a two tone Rambler station-wagon and we groaned one big collective groan. What was this ugly car doing in our parking lot and where was our sportster well neither parent even smiled.
They were concerned about how we were going to get the Ford home as we could not leave it were it sat right now as we would most likely get a large fine that would keep getting larger until we decided how to move the car. Dad said that I could drive it while he pulled it with the Rambler. To which Sandra was perfectly upset but I was ok with the idea as I would get to drive that car over 400 miles. I just had to be taught a few things I had to learn. I knew that I would not be speeding so what did I need to learn? Boy it was the silliest thing, when the brake lights came on I needed to put on the Ford brakes. No not the tail lights but the brake lights. And when the brake lights of the Rambler went off then I had to let off the brakes on the Ford. Oh now we will try it for a few minutes before we get on our way. Boy I never felt like a fish in a fish bowl more with every one looking in on me. I was going to volunteer to take Sandra’s place in this whole thing, but then I would hear it all the way home about I was chicken and not Sandra. So I finished the training and found myself on the hardest trip I think I have ever taken even if it were the most exciting. I was responsible for keeping the chain taught between both cars and I was supposed to give suggestions when someone was trying to pass by braking three short brakes to let dad know that a car was coming even though the rambler had mirrors they needed to be fixed by a mechanic on Monday. So finally I was out of the fish bowl and “on the road again”.
We got to Umitilla Oregon where we stopped for something to eat and I was so tired and sore that I said I could not drive anymore so Sandra got her chance to drive and I slept for about ½ hour to Kennewick Washington there I was wakened and told that she could rest.
Once we got the car home we let it set in the same place until the neighbors came to complain and then the police told us they were going to bring a warrant for the remval of that car if we did not do something with it before then. So we called some brothers who were our local mechanics and ask them if they could use the car in theirk stoc car show. Well it lasted another few weeks before it had beeen totaled. And we were left with that silly old Rambler.

Diabetes again for your comprehension...
I won’t tell you this is a happy or fun tale at all. Actually it is a very sad story that I tell you with the hope that you might be better able to understand me.
When I was a young man I was never sent to a camp for diabetics where I could see other diabetics, I did not even know another diabetic in town even though my parents told me of relatives with diabetes i did not know them, and for this reason I thought I had been singled out. This made me very sensitive about myself, I thought my Heavenly Father was sad at something I had done and had punished me with diabetes, I had not yet understood that we all have our own troubles to deal with and I did not want to hear anything about it.
When I was a boy I had great faith in my my Heavenly Father and never grumbled but was proud that I could pick up beer bottles in the club so that we could have church, and even prouder that I could help build a new chapel for the Lord. However, when this diabetes came about, I was totally confused and really did not believe in Him anylonger and actually thought He was a figment of my parents imagination. But I had to believe in someone and so I chose to believed in my parents as far as possible.
It has been a long trip back to where I truly believe in my Heavenly Father once again. It has taken many miracles in my life for this to happen. Yes I went on a mission and I have had tentative faith until where I am today.
I am very sorry for the aboven sad story, we shall look forward to some happier ones.
Love Dad

Diabetes
As one can tell, this is not a very organized life story, but I am not an organized person. We go back to a very significant point in my life and tell you about my experiences with learning I am diabetic.
One day when I was around twelve I was feeling poorly and told my mother so. She sent me off to the doctor by myself, which wouldn’t be thought of in these days, so I walked the several -5- blocks to the doctors office, didn’t sign-in with the receptionist and watched many people come after me and yet go in before me. I went to the receptionist and asked her why this was happening, obviously the first I had been in a doctors office by myself, so she told me that I had to sign in and I had better do it soon as they were about to close. Well I got signed in and went back to wait another thirty minutes before being called to see the doctor. No one is seen by the doctor before having to wait at least that long, even in those olden days. This doctor did the normal doctor things such as feel my throat and sticks his finger… anyway in the end he sent me home without telling me anything. I guess I looked as if I would not understand. This was around Christmas time so I had to walk home in the dark, but before I walked home I walked over to the five&dime store to buy some candy as I have always had a sweet tooth. When I got home apparently the doctor had called mom and told her what he suspected, so when I got home she looked at the bag of candy and took it from me and gave it to my siblings.
I was then told me to get ready to go to the hospital. I was angry as that was my candy and still I was in the dark, everyone seemed to know except me. I can now understand why mom was so anxious and abrupt with me as I now have children of my own, but then I could not understand anything of what was going on. She had called dad to come and support her so we went to the hospital as a threesome. On the way to the hospital she told me what the doctor had told her and I still didn’t know what that meant as I was a dumb kid, but I learned quickly. In the hospital they gave me this terribly qooy stuff that I had to drink and then they drew some blood and tested it to find out that my blood sugar was 800 which made perfect sense to me, you drink that stuff and your blood sugar would be that high also.
The next day my parents took me to Richland, great a day out all by myself with my two favorite people. Well, when we got to Richland we went to the hospital instead of to the store. And even though my parents explained it to me, I was left all by myself with a bunch of people that I didn’t know or trust and I was sure they went off to shop or have some fun of some kind, now i realize they must have been too worried to think about having fun.
While I was there in the hospital I was given an orange and a needle that I could fill with water and then give the orange a shot, which I picked up quickly and then came the ugliest nurse I have ever known, she had hair coming out of her nose and everything, she took away the orange and substituted my leg. She also substituted insulin instead of the water. When I tried to give myself the first shot I had ever given myself, it was so hard and I was so slow at it that this big ugly nurse slapped my hand and told me that I had to be brave and give the shots faster. To which I have always rebelled and taken my time while taking a shot.
There is nothing natural about giving yourself a shot, when you are giving someone else a shot you have no idea as to whether it is hurting or not, but when you are giving yourself a shot you know and can adjust the position, many times if necessary.

Here we are in Othello again
Trying to figure out which stories to tell and which should be kept to myself is now getting a bit harder as I get older along my journey.
My father moved us to Othello for a much larger wage than he had yet known. I believe it was around $400.00 as a farm hand for Newell Anderson who was also a member of our ward. Not very much you say, well it was at a time when inflation was at a much slower pace as it is today. Well he only worked on the farm for a year or so when Newell moved to the position as foreman to his fresh pack potato plant or warehouse or whatever, for about $500.00 a month. I had been changing waterpipes for Newell at around .03 cents a pipe that I moved, boy was I happy to start earning some money so I was very disappointed when Dad moved to the plant.
Well, it wasn’t long before I started earning much more, doing odd jobs around the plant. But it was here that I got into my first trouble with the law. You see my father was deeply involved in trying to get the plant ready for potato season, and needed a few part from the store, so he gave me the keys to this old Rambler wagon and asked me to get the parts he needed. Well, I still hadn’t learned to slow down and I was only 14 years old, so as I was speeding back to the plant I was pulled over by this city policeman. He asked me for my licens and as I didn’t have one he put me in his car and took me to the police station. I tried to talk him into letting me complete the task I had been given, but no dice. I had to call my father from jail and he had to drop everything at the plant and come get me. I don’t think he was the fool for asking me to drive but was just showing his trust in me, but I realize that I was the fool for allowing my desire to be a stock car driver take over.
I was, from then on, watched by the local police force…

My Patriarchal blessing...
I am going to share with you all a small paragraph of my patriarchal blessing. And tell you that I should have lived a much better life from what the rest of the blessing says.
Many of you may have heard me tell of this paragraph in the past, but I will share anyway.
The greatest aim of your life is to become a father and have the responsibilities that come through that blessing, in order for you to maintain life and enjoy the many blessings that come in this life, you must be able to support and maintain a home that will bring comfort and enjoyment to you and your household. I bless you that as you go to school you will study and decide early in life what occupation you want to follow. I bless you that you will be able to select one that you will dearly love to work at each day of your life. One that you feel can support your family in a pleasing way to them and to you.
Have a good day.
P.S. I guess that you must be scared so you are not leaving me any comments so that I will stop with this silly blog. I don't care if these comments are good or bad as long as I know that some one is reading this thing.
