Wednesday, January 19, २०११

I remember. As a young man, I used to be so ashamed of the softness of my body. I always thought was too weak to do anything manly.

Now that I am older, I am so glad that my parents made me do chores. For it is in doing these chores that I learned to work at something until it HURT!!! I mean that each summer I worked at moving water pipes, at moving 50 lb. boxes and then 100 lb. bags of potatoes.for 12 – 20 hours a day. And I got so sore that I thought I was never going to be able to move again because of my body soreness.

In these older days of my life I have come to appreciate these earlier struggles as now I know that a little pain is worth it as I learned as a youngster these pains did nothing but make my body stronger and made me sleep better at night.

Now that I need to get into better shape I can think back on these times and realize there was an even harder time of my life. I can get into better condition without spending 20 hrs a day. And I tell each of my children nd each of my grandchildren do not be afraid of a little or a lot of work.

WORD FOR THE YEAR...

I have two words that are very close, but not the same:

   1. Believe
   2. Carpe Diem

Both mean believe but Carpe Diem means believe in today or the day. I choose believe because i have so little confidence in myself and if I remember these two words then I will be more able to take on what ever comes my way. If I believe more in the capabilities of the Savior then i will be a more confident person and not fear all about myself.

As I think of Carpe Diem I will know that today is the day to do what I have chosen. It is not for tomorrow but must be done today. I will not always make Diana fee that she has to do everything by herself.

A little about me...

1. What's my heritage? From my parents and I come close but never touch anyone famous or worldly significant. We come from the line of the brother of Joseph Smith Sr. His first name is Silas through my grandmother Nield’s Ross lineage. She was a Morgan as can be seen at the following site http://macsheep.tripod.com/Morgan/id12.html .On the side of my grandmother Passey, Helen Lee, I have been told that she is a cousin of President Harold B. Lee but I have never seen the connection. Because Paf 5 does not run on Mac OSX or OS9 I cannot lookup my family origins but from memory, which is getting poorer and poorer with age and my disease, most came from England Wales and Herefordshire, from Scotland and from France anywhere from early 1700s to mid – late 1800s. Many came to better their lot in land and freedom and most others came for religious reasons. I know the Nield family settled in Star Valley Wyoming a little southwest of Yellowstone National Park. Some of the Lee fami settled in North Carolina and others of the family settled in Utah and Idaho. The Morgan family, Thomas and Ann, emigrated to Utah in the 1851 they were baptized in the Mormon religion in 1840 by the missionary Wilford woodruff in the Herefordshire England area. They immigrated to Utah and were sent to Idaho. The only family that I cannot find is the Passey family of my grandparents. I just cannot find anything on them. Most came over to farm.

2. My mother last on right next to Dad in the following picture http://macsheep.tripod.com/Morgan/id44.html was born in Ririe, ID on March 3, 1930 and grew up mostly in Lincoln, ID. My father was born in Idaho Falls, ID on September 20, 1929 and grew up mostly in Amman, ID. Both Lincoln and Amman were part of th Idaho Falls school district so they grew up together and never dated until a mistake brought them together, mom was visiting a friend and dad went there to get his date, moms friends sister who was not there. Anyway when moms date got there her friends mom got involved and suggested that dad take out mom and moms date take out her daughter, moms friend as she thought moms date was to good for mom. She then dared dad to take out mom and the rest is history. They were married May 21 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Since then they have moved several times. My father worked for his father in the dairy business grandpa had in Amman as a truck driver moving the milk from the barn to the dairy then he started working for the dairy picking up milk from many farms and taking the milk to he dairy. Then they all, in the above picture, moved to Victor, Montana to work together on a farm that my grandfather had bought. Each in turn moved away to follow a different skill because the farm grandpa had bought couldn’t pay as much as they wanted to earn. Dad stayed with grandpa until grandpa sold the dairy farm. Later they found that the reason they struggled so much is they bought their hay fro Montana and not from Idaho. Grandpa and dad both got jobs working on a state representatives ranch, where they worked until the owner could afford both. So dad got a job driving truck for Mayflower moving company and we moved to Stevensville, MT. dad quit Mayflower when he found they had not been honest with him. He then started driving for another company who could keep him home more. When that didn’t work out dad started working as foreman for a lumber yard which burnt as part of a forest fire so dad started working as a fireman for the state. We then moved to Othello, WA, where dad worked as plant foreman in a fresh pack potato plant. Then he went to work as a dispatcher/manager for a trucking company. And finally he worked as a truck driver for a chemical company out of Pasco, WA for twenty years. My mom, although very stern is one of the most loving people I have ever known. My dad loves his wife more than anyone can imagine, he will stand up for her regardless. My father taught me the importance of always working hard. My mother taught me the importance of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Guess what 2

Diana took me to the ddoctor this past Thursday and he told me that I do NOT have CANCER but I do have some pre-cancerous spots that needed to be burnt /frozen off with liquid nitrogen of some kind, before they turn into cancer. This is such a lift off my mind that I can't express the gratitude i feel not to have to deal with another life altering disease.

Saturday, November 01, 2008

Guess what...

I went to the doctors office today and was told that I have CANCER. Boy if that isn't a shocker.
Then when I had calmed down a bit I was told that there are basically three types of cancer and what I have is not lethal but can be disfiguring if I don't get it taken care of. So now I am waiting for them to get back to me with a time for a biopsy I was told this looks like Basal cell skin cancer and I am including the Kaiser encyclopedia info below.

Basal cell skin cancer (carcinoma) most often appears on areas of the body that have been exposed to the sun, such as the head, face, neck, back, chest, or shoulders. Basal cell carcinoma grows slowly and does not usually spread to other parts of the body (metastasize).

Basal cell skin carcinoma is the most common skin cancer in light-skinned people. It is rare in people who have dark skin.

Signs and symptoms may include:

    * A small, fleshy bump with a smooth, pearly appearance, often with an indentation in the middle.
    * A scarlike lesion that is firm to the touch.
    * A bump that bleeds, crusts over, and then repeats the cycle.
    * A red, tender, flat spot that bleeds easily.
    * Tiny blood vessels in thin red lines with a spiderlike appearance (telangiectasias).

Treatment for a basal cell cancer involves surgery to remove the lesion and occasionally topical chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Most basal cell skin cancer can be cured, but some may return after treatment.

I thought I would explain what things I am afraid of and in the order of the fear:

1.    That I have done or that I might do something that will prevent me from being with my Father in Heaven once again.
2.    Making Diana so angry with me thatt she would leave me.
3.    Complete loss of eye sight
4.    Cancer
I could go on but the rest I find so unimportant that it becomes funnier and funnier after this point. For example  5. Would be that I fall out of the canoe and drown.

DIABETES Diagnostics

I have decided to write a biography of my married life, and IN this biography I intend to say how I have felt about many incidents that have happened in this period.   07/30/2005

Diana and I decided to marry while I was a missionary. – 1973 - To be honest, I do not know why we decided to marry except that I thought I needed to find someone beautiful enough to turn the heads of everyone around. This is a poor reason to marry anyone, but I was truly blessed, in that I have since found that Diana is one of the most beautiful people that I have ever met. Both outside and inside Diana tries to be kind to everyone, even the garbage man, not that he is bad or anytthing. Not only is she beautiful but she is also much smarter than I in most things. I believe that the only thing that I am better at than she is that of being more consistent and I am very inconsistent.
Diana has been so patient with my inconsideration to so many people, starting with my children. I have always felt the world owed me as I was delt a terrible hand as I have fought with Diabetes most of my life. Something I wish all you parents to realize is that because I am definitely a carrier also I have given each of my children at least a 50% chance of also being a carrier. I don’t think my parents had any idea as to what they had the possibility of giving their children. Therefore I must  only blame myself for my situation. And now for the reason for this “aside”!

Ciria called me a few days ago with concerns for Zoë, as she had to go to the bathroom a lot, 5 times in 1-½ hours. Well I want to tell you all
about what I remember of when I was diagnosed with Diabetes.
1.    I was continually thirsty nothing seemed to satisfy my thirst
2.    I had to pee a lot (I think it because I drank so much)
3.    I ate more than normal and continued to loose weight
4.    I continually felt sick (my neck hurt, around my shoulders was very sensitive to the touch, I felt ill most of the time)
5.    I was only interested in myself (this might be a personality flaw)

I hope this will help with any questions you might have concerning diabetes diagnostics!

Now back    to the star witness, Diana, she has always taken care of me, even when I was faking to get her attention.

What's going OM in my life???

Cathy and Vallen gave me an iMac and Microsoft Office 2008 for my birthday and wouldn't you know it but the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) procedures I had written to automate some processes will not work on the Mac. This is because of a different type of code, 64bit instead of 32 bit. Sooo I am left with doing everything by hand until I can teach myself AppleScript which will take the place of VBA, if I can remember all the Procs I wrote.

In short, Cathy and Vallen have given me a great reason to live and learn, yea, yea, yea, Yea, Yea. This will make Diana happy and I know it makes me happy. I didnt think I had it in me any more to remember all the little details it takes to learn and write code of any sort. I guess "an old dog can learn new tricks", ill have to REMEMBER this with Duke!!!

Memory Lane

(I'll do anything for comments, lol )

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot. Anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty fun to see the responses. If you leave me a memory about me, I'll assume you are playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one for you.

I am so thankful for...

I am thankful for many many things:
  1. I am extremely thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for all it has brought into my life. There is nothing truly good that can happen without this gospel and it has kept me on course even when I wanted to stray. I believe in God the eternal Father of us all, in His son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost as a godhead. I believe that our Father in Heaven has called prophets to guide and to lead His children through the ages and will have prophets into eternity for the same purpose.
  2. I am thankful for Diana and for the efforts she has made to teach me to be a nicer, kinder person. Sorry but I have been unable or unwilling to learn so far. Hopefully I will be able to learn before the JUDGMENT so that we might be able to share eternity together, I know that is what she wants. Diana is so kind that she keeps telling me how to be a better person and never seems to give up.
  3. I am thankful for Steve Matherson's mother who insisted Diana was not good enough for her little boy, so he divorced Diana making it possible for others (ME) to get all of Diana's love. It also made it possible for our new bishop Doug Earl , a lawyer, to help me adopt Cathy so that we could be sealed as a family.
  4. I am thankful for each of my children (Catherine Anne, Kristy Dawn, Ciria Joy, Alexander Corey, Andrew Keary and Calixta Marie) for their willingness to put up with my anger and my reactions, hard to tell the difference many times but with coaching from their mother they either learned or were to afraid to say anything. I wish to apologize to my children for making them go through everything they have put up with from me.
  5. I an very thankful for my grandchildren: Zach P (Kristy); Toni P (Kristy); Summer B (Cathy); Zeke P (Kristy); Aden N (Andrew); Brecky B (Cathy); Joce N (Andrew); Zoë K (Ciria); Kari K (Ciria); Alex N (Alex); Naomi K (Ciria) This little girl was born on my 57th birthday and I didn't expect to live beyond 27, due to a doctors statement! That's 30 years of nothing but populating the earth and being a good example for all those who know me. Even if they are afraid of me!; Rocio N (Alex). And if their are any names or dates that are wrong please correct me if you can by comment or by email

Happy Birthday Nate!

I don't think Calixta could have gotten a better spouse even if I had picked the spouse. Can you imagin2 Calixta allowing me to choose a husband for her? I'll bet she would had a cow much easier than the two of you can have a baby even one one with black hair, olive skin and green eyes. (At least that is how the picture she sent me looked annd I don't have much of an imagination!)

I think you are a great enthusiast to make something of yourself and with Calixta at your side you can go a long way in your attempts to get on top. And yes I do believe you will get on top.

Take good care of Calixta and she will always be there for you much the way her mother has helped me throughout my attempts to do well for her and for the family.

Have a great Birthday and life.

I am trying to figure out how Nate and Calixta formatted their blog...

Did you use an XML Editor and if so I cannot find one to use. I have seen other blogs on Blogger that make mine look so old I am ashamed. I tried to send my template to the Microsoft XML editor and was told it does not meet the requirements for some reason. My memory is almost useless. The harder I try to remember the faster I FORGET. With some writing I might remember better.

Family Reunion

I know I didn't get to see all of the family reunion but as each of you blog about parts of it I am impressed with what you all saw while there. The latest thing I saw and laughed until I cried was Kikis blog about the reunion and her video of Kari-Lyns Monkey Dance. Diana and I really enjoyed this and Andrew and Shawnie also got to see it and really enjoyed it. So I encourage each of you to add your own pics and impressions of this event.

On a sadder note, most of you left on Thursday or Friday, then Kristy and family packed up and moved to Georgia on Saturday night. Now Diana is talking to Andrew and Shawnie about moving to Utah and getting away from the clutches of Andrews MIL as well as to hopefully help them to get out of debt. This will leave us family less here in Washington when the reason we came here in the first place was to be with family.

Once upon a time

I have decided to start writing stories about my ideas/thoughts. So:

Once upon a time there was a little boy named Steve. Now Steve was very curious about everything he saw. So curious that he asked about everything, so curious that he even tried to operate whatever he saw and do everything he saw.
One day Steve and his dad were at a tire shop and Steve was wandering around where he should not have been. He saw a man take an old tire off a wheel and put a new tire on with a curious machine. It was so fascinating that Steve snuck over to that machine after everyone was out of sight. He looked at the machine and he found the on/off switch that was so tempting! He looked around and determined that no one was paying any attention to him so he turned the machine on and as it had no-one controlling it the machine moved to the least resisting spot and closed as it was supposed to, only this time as it closed Steve found that it had closed on his finger and did it ever hurt. Well Steve quickly turned the silly machine off with his left hand as it had hold of hi right finger. The finger was so sore that Steve could not bare to try to move it.
On their way home Steve's father asked Steve if he had enjoyed himself. Well Steve had not enjoyed himself very much but afraid to tell his father what had happened as he did not want his father to leave him home next time. The next morning the finger was twice its normal size and when asked about it Steve would only say "I don't know".

Diana Diana Diana MY SWEETHEART MY LOVE

H
ow I remember all of the kindnesses that you do for everyone. Why are you such a good person? I wish I could be half as good as you! Is it because of the way you were raised, or have you always been like you are. Were you born a saint or did you have the greatest desire as a spirit to do the will of Our Father ib heaven and so you try harder in this life?

Actually I don't understand how you can worry so much for others with an alcoholic father and a screaming mother. Or is it because of your parents that you are as perfect as you are? Actually I believe it is because of your parents, you decided NOT to be like them as I remember some of your beat em' up stories where you took a guys pants off him and replaced them with your skirt.

Perhaps it is because you were one of the most valiant souls in the pre-existence and decided you were going to be the best, kindest people here on earth so you would be sure that you would return to live with our Father in Heaven once again.

Possibly it is because of your grandmother, who taught you how to accept everything without complaint and you learned how to be such a graceful lady from her. She was a great influence in your life!

You either learned very well or you remembered exceptionally well.

Both your Teachings and your memory have made you into the greatest being I have met hear in person in this life.

Is your heart greater than everyone elses?

Regardless, you have kept your kindness as your number 1 rule as far as I can see. Regardless of where you learned it, you have retained it and made it as part of your life.

This has made you loved by me and by everyone who has met you unless they were jealous of your talents.

Having won the love and respect of all who know you, you go out on a daily quest to be nice to everyone you meet..

Dogs are not beneath your kindness. I remember shortly after we were married you hit a Dalmation with your car and you did more than I would have. You stopped, found the owners and told them of your deep regret.

And you are far more generous than I. Look at this miserable post compared to all you buy me for my birthday.

Yours should be a birthday even greater than Presidents day. It should be almost as great as Christmas.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANA.

Memory Monday

Personally I liked the home we had at first in Moses Lake. Actually it was the first home we tried to buy. Every home we tried to buy we lost money on.
1. I loved the great big picture window in the front room.
2. I loved the fact that we could garden there, even if we never got a big harvest, we were just learning.
3. I loved the fact that I worked harder there to be a good father than anywhere else. Seems I was always too busy earning money everywhere else.
a. I spent time talking to my children.
b. I would go on dates with my girls.
4. I loved living about a block from the church.
5. I loved the activities I was involved in.
6. I loved riding my bicycle to work. Going home was a little harder because of the hill but it kept me in shape.

Happy birthday Ciria

I always thought you had a special thing for other people’s birthdays. First you were born on my youngest brothers birthday. Now that was quite a coincidence, and then you went on to have a second baby girl on my older sister’s birthday and as near as possible you gave her my name. No complaints here though. And then you went on and had another little girl on my birthday. Are you trying to keep up with my mother? If so you still have quite a way to go, ls see there is 4/28, 3/9, 12/11, 2/4, & 10/2. I hope you and Adam are up to the task if that is your goal. LOL

Anyway I wish you a very Happy Birthday Ciria Joy.

First driving experience

Once upon a time many many many years ago I was a 14-year-old boy working for my father and as he needed some parts to fix the machinery he was working on. As he didn’t think he had the time to go for these parts he asked me to go for him. As a new driver I thought I needed to be in a real hurry and get back as quickly as possible. Unfortunately I have never gotten over this idea that I had to be in a hurry. Our car at that time was a 1960 green AMC Nash Rambler station wagon. The only difference between this car and the one I drove back then was the top wasn’t white so I have no idea where I got the idea that I was in an “Indy 500” race but I have never slowed down since. Between leaving the potato shed where my father was and getting to the parts store and then getting back to the potato shed again I was stopped by the local police and given a ticket for driving without a license and they took me back to my father I don’t think I ever took driver education classes until after I was stopped for driving 120+ MPH in a 65 MPH zone. This was several years later.

My day in the HOSPITAL!!!

Diana tells me that I have had an insulin reaction every time she comes back from a trip. I guess she will eventually learn she should not go away. And that sounds as if I did it on purpose, but I am not doing it on purpose I promise.

The day starts well, Diana and I decided that we do better when we do things on our own so she decided to go shopping with Kristy and I go to the pharmacy for insulin and pain pills. Then I came home to take my medications and eat but I could not find anything I could fix to eat and then I decided to go to McDonald's but I didn’t think I had any cash so I continued on to the grocery store, a trip to the grocery store takes about ½ hour. When I got to the store I was still thinking clearly and I purchased what I needed, as I was leaving the store I discovered the five dollars I had in my coat pocket so I purchased a slice of pizza and took it outside. Why I didn’t eat it just outside the store is still a mystery to me but when they found me the ambulance people said it was still on my lap. I must have been about three blocks from the store.

They took me to the hospital after giving something called d50 as they took my blood sugar and found no blood sugar reading on their one touch machine and by the time I was in the hospital I was lucid. I gave the ambulance people my cell phone and asked them to call Diana and as she was in a shoe store looking at a brown pair of shoes she said you see this brown pair of shoes, I’ll take it one in black and one in red. So why do they take me to the hospital? Because if they don’t the insurance will not pay the ambulance fees which is $700.00 and when I go to the hospital the insurance pays most of that cost and I am left with just $75.00. Before Diana got there, Andrew was there to take care of Duke and I, to take me home a receptionist came ib to ask me how I was doing and I told her “better now than when you leave” she smiled and thanked me. Then I had to wait for a couple hours while they made sure my blood sugar stayed up and until I had eaten something.

In retrospect I think there are a few things I would like to say to my family
 First I am sorry for all the unpleasantness I have caused in your lives.
 2nd It seems as if every year I do something to hurt Andrew on or around his birthday. This year he didn’t want to go out to dinner with us as he was going to another birthday party so we planned it for Saturday when I had an insulin reaction.
 3rd it seems to me that it would have been cheaper if I had just gotten on the bus and gone to the hospital if I wanted to eat there.
This took me three days to write.

One Sad Story

I picked up a letter from the kitchen floor today mailed on 29 Dec 2007 and still unopened, why was it not yet opened as it was from Bob Wrathall I have no idea.

Anyway I opened it and as it was in such small type I could barely read it. When I was able to finish the letter I called Diana as I was crying. Yes me crying, and why – it was because Janice has died on 3 Dec. 2007.

Apparently Janice found the the head of her femur had been destroyed by a rare cancer resulting in an emergency hip replacement but the cancer was already metastatic and through the year of 2007 she dealt with chemotherapy and palliative radiation. Apparently Janice had her whole family around her at the moment she took her last breathe, something I would not want any of my family to have to deal with.

I cried as I don’t understand why such good people as Janice Wrathall and Zoë Christenson have passed on and people who do not contribute much of anything such as myself are still here. I guess there is a lot I need to learn.

Gift of Garb

My husband's cousin married a former Marine who now works for United Parcel Service.
They bought their four-year-old son two stuffed bears... one in a UPS uniform and the other in Marine garb.
When the boy seemed confused by receiving the two bears, his father brought out a picture of himself in full Marine dress."
See, Connor?" he explained, pointing to the photo and then to the bear. "That's Daddy."
Connor's eyes went from one to the other, and then he asked in a puzzled voice, "You used to be a bear?"

I'm glad my kids weren't idiots!

Baby Names

When Donna found out she was pregnant, she told the good news to anyone who would listen. But her 4-year-old son overheard some of his parents' private conversations.
One day when Donna and her 4-year-old were shopping, a woman asked the little boy if he was excited about the new baby.
"Yes!" the 4-year-old said, "And I know what we are going to name it, too. If it's a girl we're going to call her Christina, and if it's another boywe're going to call it quits!"

Naomi's true name!

Curfew Crackdown

The curfew in Belfast started at 10 pm and at 9.30 pm the British soldiers were leaving their barracks to enforce it.
A sergeant in charge of one of the patrols heard a shot ring out at 9.35 pm.
He soon discovered that Private Connolly had shot the man in the leg.
"It's only 9.36 pm," roared the sergeant. "Why did you shoot him?"
"I know that man," said Private Connolly, "I know where he lives. He would never have got home by 10 o'clock."

My girls would never have lived!

The 12-Mile March

I was a new Army basic trainee at Fort McClellan, and one requirement was a demanding 12-mile march.
We got started at 6 a.m. and were pumped up for the trek.
An hour later, feeling the heavy load of our packs, we wondered if the end would ever come. "Men," our sergeant yelled, "you're doing a fine job. We've already covered four miles!"
Revitalized, we picked up the pace. "And," he continued, "we should reach the starting point any minute now."

My kind of trek! I love those 12-milers, I can almost get to the starting point!

The Brass Rat

A man walks into an antique store, and starts looking around.
All of the sudden he spies a huge BRASS RAT in the corner. He falls in love with it, so takes it to the cashier.
"The rat, eh?" says the old grizzly cashier "um, yeah...how much?" replies our friend
"Well, five bucks for the rat--but 200 dollars for the story," he replied.
"I'll just take the rat, without the story." Says the customer.
He leaves the store, his precious brass rat tucked under his arm.
Soon he begins to notice that a few rats are following him.
He walks a few more blocks and the number of rats behind him increased.
This continued, until there were virtually millions of rats behind him.
Afraid of this mass following the man ran to the sea and threw the rat in.
All of the rats plunged in after it, and met their watery deaths.
The man ran back to the antique store.
The old cashier was chuckling to himself. "So now do you want the story?"
"No," said the man, "but have you got any brass lawyers?"

Just for Nate!

Racists and Lightbulbs

How many racists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None -- they don't want to be enlightened!

She’s Probably Right

At a wedding, the band leader polled the guests to see who had been married longest. It turned out to be the old and Mrs. Perfesser.
So he asked them, “What advice would you give to the newly-married couple?”
Mrs. Perfesser said, “The three most important words in a marriage are, ‘You’re probably right’.”
Everyone looked at the old perfesser. He said, “She’s probably right.”

You might be from New Jersey if …

-You ax people questions …
-You never listen to what the other person is saying…
-And if by chance you did happen to listen …… you don’t care …
-If you disagree with my agreeing with you …
-You say “youz guys” …
-Instead of saying “what’s up with that” you say “what’s up wittit” …
-You know everything about everything and anything …(???)

Johnny wanted to be an accountant

so he went for an aptitude test:
Tester: If I give you two Rabbits, and two rabbits, and another two rabbits, how many rabbits have you got?
Johnny: SEVEN!
Tester: No, listen carefully again. If I give you two Rabbits, and two rabbits, and another two rabbits, how many rabbits have you got?
Johnny: SEVEN!
Tester: Let’s try this another way. If I giveyou two bottles of beer, and two bottles of beer, and another two bottles of beer, how many bottles of beer have you got?
Johnny: SIX.
Tester : Good! Now, if I give you two Rabbits, and two rabbits, and another two rabbits, how many rabbits have you got?
Johnny: SEVEN!
Tester: How on Earth do you work out that three lots of two rabbits is seven?
Johnny: I’ve already got one rabbit at home now!

How many Jokes will it take for me to win?

Three Old Gents

Three old men were sitting on a park bench."
Windy, isn't it?" said the first."
No, its Thursday!" replied the second.
The third looked at the other two and said, "So am I. Let's go get a beer."

Why anyone would want beer I have no idea as it seems gross to me. But Diana seems to have liked it.

Thanksgiving

The original Thanksgiving was declared to be on Thursday 26 Nov. 1789 or 218 years ago by George Washington and because it is not considered to be a religious holiday by most people in the US there has been little change or protest as to the holiday throughout the years. If people would stop to realize how religious George Washington was this would probably not be true today.
Just a bit of trivia!

BTW my post on Money was not supposed to be funny!

Money

If I were to ask, “How is money made?” one would probably say that one goes to work to make money! And I would say “that is how one earns money” so how is money made? So now one would think that money is made at the US Mint. Again I would say that this is just how currency and coin is created.

About a hundred years ago money was backed by actual gold or silver, heretofore referred to as just gold, deposits and so one could go to the bank and literally say, “I do not want currency or coin, I want gold”! Then one day a bright banker decided to create money out of thin air and in about 1985 it became illegal for a person in the US to own actual gold or silver but just stocks or bonds for gold, again just paper. So today, all money is created out of thin air.

I must clarify this a little, you see the banker thought, “I can make a loan from the amount of gold I have on hand so that debt is actually creating me money so I should be able to lend not only on the reserves I have on hand but also on the interest portion of the debt that I hold!” [I wasn’t much longer that a group of bankers called the “National Trust” got together and started allowing specific interest rates. This group has nothing to do with the government. Thereby, creating all money from thin air. Today this group is a multinational group. So it is easy to understand why the Lord is so dead set against debt in general, I hope we will all work toward getting out of debt!

Mom

I want to tell each of my children of the great mother that you have. Diana has always sought direction from our Heavenly Father and as she sought this direction she also spent time to listen to the Holy Ghost, just as she listen to each of you, to learn how she should act. Just as sister Julie Beck said in her talk this morning, Diana used the power of teaching her children the right course in life so that each is now a good positive citizen of their community and many have valued callings from the Lord. Regardless each of Diana’s children are were they are because of your mothers teaching, her caring and her desire to do a good job of raising her children, just as her father did in raising his children. The difference being that Diana had the gospel as a standard beyond what her parents or any of her siblings. And so most of you do not think as how many toys you have as your determination of success in life, but rather the greatness of your children.

I do not want to read any comments as to how I was also an inspiration to you as I know how little I did and that I never learned the importance of listening to you

Now that we no longer have children to take care of Diana has turned all of her talents on me. I do not complain, I just wish I had known this earlier in my life as it would have eliminated many unnecessary and useless fights which were destructive to your welfare. Diana used to say “It is necessary for her/his development!!!” to which I would say “butt we’re not saving any money” and now she says “It’s for your comfort, you are more comfortable aren’t you?” to which I say “Yes, but we’re not saving any money”, I guess we are not supposed to save any money. A real pain in the neck.

On Friday night as I was getting in bed I fell off the wheelchair, landed on my head and twisted my neck so severely that Diana had to clean up the blood from the floor. I hope it was not caused by vertigo.

Since then I have been unable to turn my neck more than a trifle and I have had a headache that is almost to die for. I am just playing with words. Maybe I should ask for more help but I know that Diana does more for me than most wives ever have to do for their husband.

The best thing that could have happened to me is is that Alex and Kiki had a little girl named Rocio (Dew in English) Amelie (sounding like Linda Wyatt's middle name) she weighed 6 lbs and 9 oz. being 19 1/2 lnches long, tall and skinny. I am so glad for this as I now have something better than a headache to think of. Alex says she is blonde and she does not have a big head! I'll bet she is beautiful like her mom.

Why Me?

In May of 1970 I was in a car accident due to an insulin reaction. I believe the car was going very fast because it rolled onto its left side and slid along the burrow pit for about 100 feet and then flipped end over end twice not touching the barbed wire fence. It then rolled three times before coming to a stop on its flat tires. The police estimated it to be about 120 MPH.

I was unconscious for three days before coming to. The only thing that saved me was a blessing from my Heavenly Father as a friend of mine was riding with me and even though the roof of the car was sitting on the top of the seat on his side he was able to get out and summon an ambulance. The glass of the drivers side window was the only piece of glass that was not shattered and that is were my head lay while the car was sliding along the ground of the burrow pit.

One final piece of evidence that I was blessed was that about three months later another guy did the exact same thing at the same place (same flips and same rolls) and was killed instantly. So I know that my children and my grandchildren were meant to have Diana and I as your parents and grandparents, etc. etc. And then I went on a mission in March of 1971 and that is where I met Diana.

What is this life all about

When we come to this earth we are blessed in so many ways that we just think of these blessings as what we deserve. We have all heard the story of the man who at the end of his life and looked back upon his footsteps in life and asked the Lord “I see two sets of footsteps in my life except where I had struggles and it seems you left me at those times, WHY?” to which the Lord replied “at those times I carried you!”. Well I have decided to start telling you all of the great many blessings that I have had during my life or when the Savior carried me.

These blessing stories will only be as I remember them or as Diana reminds me of them so no chronological order will prevail. When I was born I was blessed with air to breathe. That’s one!

Actually I wanted to say that in 1991 I had a stroke where my hemadocrit went from 42 to 59 and the blood was as thick as Jello or as Diana tells it they had to use a syringe to extract blood from me as it was so thick. Little wonder I didn’t die on the spot.

The surgeon who first saw me said ”He has a major bleeder” and thought I should go directly to surgery. But Diana asked if I could have a blessing as there were many residents studying there at UNC for their doctorate who were in our Ward and she paged a close friend and after hearing wat the first doctor thought, paged another member resident who was on hand in the hospital and I was given a Priesthood blessing. After this blessing the first doctor decided he needed another X ray to exactly find the bleeder. After the X ray was taken it was quite awhile before the original doctor came back to tell Diana that he could find no sign of the bleeder to which our friend the resident Diana had first called said he knew it all the time as the Spirit was so strong.

I have no definite idea as to why my life has been spared so many times but I hope that I am able to be a good enough person to warrant such a tremendous blessing. And as to the answer to the title question I guess that I will only know for myself so each of us must figure this out for himself/herself. Sorry!

I can see, I can see, I can see

A few days ago I wrote that I was having trouble seeing. Last Tuesday night I asked Nate and Vallen to give me a blessing. Nate anointed me and Vallen Sealed the anointing and gave me a blessing.

Before the blessing I told of the struggles I was having that I was really having a hard time seeing and that I wanted to continue to work in the name extraction program but that because of my eyesight I didn’t think I was going to be able to continue. In this blessing Vallen said many things and not all are going to be repeated as they are not of value to this blog (I cherish each word that was said though) Vallen said at the beginning that they hoped the desires of my heart would be fulfilled.and I thought , What good is this, then toward the end Vallen said we bless you that the desires of your heart will be fulfilled. (Using the priesthood of our Father in Heaven)

The next morning I got up to test my blood and to take my shot and for the first time for over a week I was able to see the syringe needle as it went into the insulin bottle and I didn’t need to call Diana to check the amount of insulin I had drawn as I could see the markings as I drew the insulin out. I am also able to read the computer screen without the magnifier within Accessibility of Accessories. But because of the struggle I went through during the previous week I had learned to use this magnifier and am now able to help myself along during the name extraction work.

It is amazing the power of the priesthood and I am quite surprised that everyone is not desirous to have this power in their lives.

Got my eye on you

I am writing by touch mostly today as last

On Monday I put my sunglasses in my eye instead of on my face and over the eyes. This causes me to cut a fairly large area of the cornea, well I 5hought I would give it a day and it would stop hurting but Wednesday morning I called and made a same day appointment to go and find out what happened. They made me see an eye doctor and she must have been new as she cut some more of the cornea, to smooth it out the area. Ten she put a clear contact on my eye as a band aid. Well, she put some kind of drop in my eye that made it feel well the entire time that she was working on it and for about an hour afterward. She let me go with just some antibiotic eye drops and made an appointment for Thursday. Funny part about this visit is that she put the numbing drops in my eye and said if you feel anything lrt me know so I told her a while later that I felt something on my lashes and she laughed and said that was ok but to let her know if I felt anything on the eye.

Thursday I went back to see a different doctor and she was also young., I guess they just wanted a lot of new doctors to practice on me. She just looked, took out the contact and put in a new one, then gave me some dilating drops to put in twice a dayand had me make an appointment for Friday. Funny thing here is that when I made the appointment they told me the only appointment they had open for this third doctor would be at 1:00 PM. That was fine so I called Kristy and asked her for a ride on Fridy she said that was fine andwhen I got home I had a message on the message machine saying the doctor would like to see me earlier at 10:00 or 11:30 Am or st 12:30 PM I thought this to be funny as the receptionist had told me that the only available appointment was at 1:00 PM. So I called Kristy back and changed the time to 10:00 AM which is the appointment I had chosen.

Friday when I went back the doctor was still young but he looked and acted as if he had been a doctor for a few years. He looked in my eye and said that the area had filled in and that it should get well in a few days, he took out the bandaid and told me he wasn’t going to replace it as I wouldn’t be able to come back in on the weekend. He told me to only take the dilating drops for the next two nights but too continue the antibiotic drops for about five daysand asked me to come back to see HIM in about a week so I made an appointment for Thursday July 5th at 3:30 PM.

And I am exhausted. Hope to see some of youse guys in the next couple days.
